Mathematical Art · Viña del Mar, Chile
Where equations become paintings — each work born from months of research, algorithms, and a deep reverence for the beauty hidden in mathematics.
Regina Bittencourt is a Chilean visual artist whose singular practice transforms mathematical equations into painterly experiences — a practice she has developed and refined over more than 11 years.
Born in Viña del Mar, her journey began with a Computer Science degree from Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, followed by an MBA Magna Cum Laude in eBusiness from Spain. It was through her formation in Fine Arts — Painting at Universidad Andrés Bello — that she found her true calling: the intersection of mathematical rigor and artistic creation.
Each work is born from months of meticulous research: data collection, precise calculations, and algorithm development. Every piece is accompanied by a legend revealing the mathematical principles beneath — inviting the viewer into a shared journey of discovery. Her work makes mathematics accessible and beautiful to everyone.
Her work has reached some of the most prestigious international stages: the Beijing International Art Biennale, XXIV Generative Art 2021 in Italy, the Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh, and the Joint Mathematics Meetings in the United States (2016, 2017, 2018), where her work graced the cover of the official Exhibition of Mathematical Art catalog. She has participated in more than 60 collective exhibitions across the Netherlands, United States, Korea, Finland, Italy, Mexico, Argentina, and Bangladesh. Her piece "Same, but different" was selected for the American Mathematical Society Calendar 2023. Her work has also been recognized by institutions like the Instituto de Matemáticas at UNAM (Mexico) and featured by her alma mater, the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María.
Each painting is available as an original or giclée print on canvas. All works are accompanied by their mathematical legend. Contact Regina directly to discuss availability, pricing, and shipping.
